The top foods for these fish are Repashy Super Green, which is mainly made of algae, and Repashy Soilent Green, which has a mix of algae, biofilm, and some fish or invertebrate protein. While they enjoy other foods, a diet focused only on protein isn’t healthy for them in the long run. They will happily eat flakes, frozen and live foods like bloodworms and daphnia, algae wafers, Repashy gel foods, sinking pellets, and granules. These fish also consume algae and biofilm from the tank’s glass and decorations, so we don’t need to clean the glass here. However, like many fish, they won’t help much with black beard algae or hair algae. They will clean up leftover food from other fish, making them a good choice for a cleanup crew in larger community tanks, which can help control snail populations and keep the tank clean. Just remember that what they eat will also be excreted. For their habitat, they need good water flow, plenty of oxygen, and lots of light to encourage algae growth. A well-established planted tank with plenty of wood and rocks is recommended.
