Brown Dwarf Frog 1-2cm

dwarf frogs, scientifically known as Hymenochirus boettgeri, are commonly referred to as Zaire dwarf clawed frogs or gold aquatic frogs, and they have become quite popular in the ornamental fish market. These frogs spend their entire lives submerged in water but must surface to breathe due to their lung structure. Therefore, it is important to ensure that their aquarium is no taller than 18 inches to facilitate easy access to the surface, and a gap should be left between the water level and the tank lid. Caution is advised when selecting tankmates, as they may prey on smaller fish species; thus, it is best to avoid housing them with any fish that could fit into their mouths as they grow. They thrive in the company of peaceful tankmates and should not be kept with larger, more aggressive fish. Golden aquatic frogs can coexist well with bottom-feeding species and are compatible with aquatic plants. While not mandatory, providing hiding spots like caves and perching areas such as rocks is highly recommended to enhance their environment.
