This sociable and unique species can thrive in groups alongside goldfish in spacious aquariums. It is essential to ensure that the tank is adequately covered to prevent any jumping incidents. The Dojo Loach is native to the rivers, lakes, and ponds of Asia and is cultivated for the aquarium trade. These loaches are bottom-dwelling scavengers characterized by their minimal or absent scales and a mouth equipped with barbels, which they utilize to locate food. They possess an elongated, smooth body that exhibits a coloration ranging from gold to pink. Known for their peaceful nature, they are highly effective scavengers, making them a valuable addition to any community aquarium. The Dojo Loach requires an aquarium of at least 30 gallons, furnished with ample hiding spots, and water temperatures maintained between 68 and 76 degrees Fahrenheit. While they thrive in planted tanks, larger individuals may disturb plants during their foraging activities. Gold Dojo Loaches are generally peaceful and do not pose a threat to other fish in the aquarium, making them excellent companions for fancy goldfish. However, caution should be exercised when housing them with smaller invertebrates, such as Ghost or Japonica Amano Shrimp.
