The Smudge-spot Cory is a perfect addition to a community aquarium. It thrives best when kept on a soft sand substrate and in groups of 5 or more because of its shoaling behavior. Make sure to include some shady planted areas in the tank. Corydoras can breathe air intestinally, so leave a small gap between the water surface and the tank cover slides to allow them to come up for air. They may do this multiple times a day. This fish is also known as the Violet Cory.
