Rocket Gars, also known as Hujeta Gars, are incredibly sleek and lively freshwater fish. Coming from South America, these torpedo-shaped predators mesmerize hobbyists with their quick movements and unique silver bodies streaked with black markings. These meat-eating hunters flourish on a diet of live foods like small fish, insects, and crustaceans. They have a strong preference for live prey, although some individuals may adapt to frozen foods such as bloodworms or small feeder fish. When choosing tank mates for Rocket Gars, it’s important to be cautious. They can be aggressive towards smaller fish and may view them as food. Ideal tank companions are larger, sturdy fish that are too big to fit in their mouths, such as larger tetras, barbs, or other medium-sized predatory fish.
