Description

RED SPOTTED SEVERUM 12-15CM

the Red-spotted Gold Severum is a color variant of the Green Severum that has been selectively bred. The natural version is found in the tributaries of the Rio Ucayali in Peru and extends to the Solimões-Amazon River in Brazil. In the wild, they live in floodplain lakes and slow-moving river areas filled with plants and submerged tree roots. For an aquarium, it should be large, with a soft sand bottom and many hiding spots made from driftwood, rocky caves, and sturdy plants like Java Fern or Anubias tied to the decorations. The filtration system should work well, but the water flow should not be too strong. Regular small water changes will help keep nitrate levels low. Red-spotted Gold Severums are generally calm for their size and can be kept with other fish of similar size and nature. They can live in pairs or larger groups, but if a pair decides to breed in a community tank, they may become more aggressive towards other fish. This usually isn’t a big issue in larger tanks. Over time, these fish can learn to recognize their owner and often come to the glass to say hello or wait for food.
