The Flying Fox is typically a calm fish, but it does have a tendency to hunt dwarf shrimp and other tiny invertebrates. Generally, it doesn’t pose a threat to most snails, and we’ve observed that it coexists peacefully with larger shrimp species like Amano, Flower, Green Lace, and Vampire Shrimp, provided they are not small enough to be seen as easy targets. As juveniles, Silver Flying Foxes prefer to school together, but as they grow, they may become more territorial towards their own species and those that look similar. To prevent bullying among the less dominant fish, it’s best to keep them in groups of at least six, or alternatively, they can be housed alone. In a spacious tank with ample territory and hiding spots, aggression can be minimized.
