Description
Diamond tetra 2-3cm
The Moenkhausia pittieri, commonly known as the Diamond Tetra, is a small freshwater fish native to the rivers and streams of South America. Its name comes from the distinctive diamond-shaped iridescent patch on its body. These fish typically grow to a maximum length of 2.5 inches (6.5 cm) and have a slender, elongated body that is slightly compressed from the sides. The Diamond Tetra has a silver coloration, with the diamond-shaped patch displaying a vibrant iridescent blue-green hue. As mentioned earlier, it is important to keep Diamond Tetras in groups of 6 or more, as they are schooling fish. They are peaceful creatures and thrive in community aquariums alongside other small and peaceful fish.
