Not only are they hardy and easy to care for, but they also have an adorable appearance and a delightful personality. They’re always swimming around the tank, exploring every nook and cranny, and they love to hang out in groups, which is why they’re often kept in schools.

One of the most fascinating things about Corys is their ability to breathe atmospheric air from the surface. It’s almost like they’re little underwater acrobats! They do this by using a special organ called the labyrinth organ, which allows them to absorb oxygen directly from the air without having to surface all the time. It’s a very useful adaptation, especially in aquariums where the water flow is low and oxygen levels can sometimes drop.

As for their size, the Sterbai variety typically grows to be about 3-3.5cm when they’re juveniles, which is around the size of the fish you will be getting . Once they reach adulthood, they can grow up to 7.5cm long, so you can expect them to continue growing for a while yet.

When it comes to temperature and pH, these little guys are quite adaptable. They do best in water temperatures between 22-28°C, which is quite a wide range. As for pH, they can tolerate levels between 6.0 and 7.0, but for optimal health, it’s best to keep them in the mid-range of that spectrum.

Just keep them in a group, maintain good water quality, and make sure they have plenty of hiding spots to feel safe and secure. They’ll thrive and bring you years of joy watching them swim and play in their little underwater world.
