Description
Double Red Cacatuoide Apistogramma
The apistogramma Cacatuoide dwarf cichlid is a vibrant small fish, with males being larger, more colorful, and having longer fins compared to females. It is recommended to choose captive-raised fish for community aquariums. Wild specimens are best kept alone or with small fish like Nannostomus, and it is advisable not to mix them with other Apistogramma species. Size: Males typically reach a size of about 6.5cm, while females grow to around 5cm. Optimal water parameters: pH should range from 5.0 to 7.2, with a temperature between 76 to 82°F. Feeding: These fish are primarily carnivorous, feeding mainly on benthic invertebrates in their natural habitat. In aquariums, it is best to offer live and frozen foods like Artemia, Daphnia, and chironomid larvae (bloodworm) regularly. Most individuals will also accept dried food options, with pelleted products being preferred over flakes.
