Tri-Band Sumo Loach

The Tri-Band Sumo Loach thrives in clear, well-oxygenated, shallow waters that flow swiftly, typically found in headwaters, tributaries, and steep streams. These environments often have a forest canopy above and a substrate made up of sand, smooth gravel, and rounded rocks and boulders. While aquatic plants are generally absent in these habitats, some areas may have a bit of marginal vegetation. These vibrant, torpedo-shaped loaches belong to a category of bottom-dwelling fish known as Brook Loaches, occupying a similar, though slightly less extreme, ecological niche as the balitorids (Hillstream Loaches).
