The rainbow shark is a freshwater fish native to Southeast Asia and is part of the Cyprinidae family. It is also known by several names, including red-fin shark, red-finned shark, rainbow sharkminnow, green fringelip labeo, whitefin shark, and deer sharkminnow. This fish is a popular choice for aquariums, although it can exhibit some aggressive behavior. Unlike true sharks, which are cartilaginous fish, the rainbow shark belongs to the bony fish category. They are generally easy to care for and quite resilient, thriving best in a planted aquarium with bogwood that provides grazing areas and territorial space.
