they tend to thrive alongside most peaceful community fish of similar size that won’t nip at their fins. We’ve successfully housed them with goldfish, livebearers, shrimp, snails, tetras, danios, and various schooling fish without any issues. In their natural habitat, they feed on small aquatic crustaceans found at the riverbed, algae, and tiny organisms that cling to underwater surfaces. In your aquarium, they will eagerly clean off any growth on the walls, rocks, driftwood, and plant leaves. This includes soft diatom algae, hair algae, and occasionally black beard algae. However, they can’t live on algae alone, so it’s important to provide them with a diverse range of high-quality foods.
